Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Strategic Communications Intern for the Los Angeles, CA office location.

The responsibilities of the position including but are not limited to:

  • Support or assist in the development of a range of communications, including for C-suite executives and top LA Metro and DCS Americas executives.

  • Research, draft or proofread materials such as internal stories, briefing documents, advertorials, biographies, social media posts and fact sheets.

  • Research media outlets and regularly update media databases.

  • Support a variety of events and programs in the Southern California region through proactive and effective media outreach activities.

  • Engage with Corporate Communications colleagues to align activities and provide support as needed.

  • Provide communications support to internal clients.

  • Assist with the repackaging of content for other communications channels

  • Provide support at various events or conferences as needed. Possibility of occasional night and/or weekend hours.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be college student currently enrolled in his or her senior year pursuing an undergraduate degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related discipline, or recently graduated without full-time employment.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Strong research and project/task management skills.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, reliable, well organized, constantly willing to learn, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively at varying levels of a global organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a variety of projects concurrently, especially in a demanding environment, under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous PR / communications internship experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledge of Associated Press style, writing for business and news formats (press releases, media alerts, etc.)

  • Desire to pursue career in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related discipline.

  • Interest and enjoyment on writing, as this position has a heavy writing focus.
