Job Summary

AECOM has a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Student Intern to provide technical and engineering support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren (NSWCDD), Virginia during the 2018 summer season. The selected candidate should have the ability to be a role model, client-focused, impactful and decisive. The EE Intern will provide support to electrical engineer professionals in support of the US Navy and is expected to be on-site a minimum of 8 hours per day within Government business hours. The EE Intern will support operation and maintenance of equipment necessary to support the conduct of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) testing/certification of DoD and non DoD developmental and operational weapon and electronic systems. The EE Intern will also support the conduct of electromagnetic environment (EME) and radio frequency (RF) assessments of DoD surface vessels, submarines, and shore facilities for hazards to ordnance, personnel, and fuel. Position requires nationwide travel. The intern will utilize test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and RF field meters. The facilities used to support these tests include NSWCDD's ground planes, reverberation chamber, anechoic chamber, DC Magnetics facility, and various shipboard and land-based platforms.

  • Successful university graduation from an Electrical Engineering Program.

  • Successful performance as an intern.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates must be a US citizen to apply for this summer internship position.

  • Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance prior to the start of work.

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • A university student with no more than two academic years remaining before earning a degree. These students are typically rising juniors or rising seniors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communications and analytical skills.

  • Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Lifting up to 50 pounds; climbing inclined ladders; regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness.

  • Knowledge of Radar Systems, Communication Systems, Ordnance, EM Field Measurements and Testing.
