Recent growth in AECOM’s industrial water/wastewater group client base and projects has created an opportunity for a Entry Level Water/Wastewater Engineer. AECOM provides creative engineering solutions that encourages professional and personal support for its team members. The selected candidate will be responsible for engineering support on industrial water and wastewater projects. This position will have an opportunity to collaborate with a team of highly experienced senior engineers and AECOM project managers. The ideal candidate is an Engineer with strong technical capability and communication skills to support studies, planning, design, and construction of industrial wastewater treatment systems. Expertise in a broad range of engineering associated with wastewater treatment, including physical, chemical and biological treatment processes/technologies, hydraulics, piping, pumping and other mechanical systems is preferred. Candidate will support the water/wastewater engineering group on multiple projects within the US and abroad, and should have the following basic qualifications.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Prepare design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD MEP

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or closely related technical discipline

  • 0 to 3 year(s) experience in conceptual design of biological, chemical and physical wastewater treatment technologies

  • Must have experience with hydraulics, water chemistry and / or water treatment process chemistry

  • The ability to participate in teams involved with consulting and conceptual engineering for our clients through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering through construction closeout and operations

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S.in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering or closely related technical discipline

  • Knowledge in conceptual design of biological, chemical and physical wastewater treatment technologies

  • Must have experience with hydraulics, water chemistry and / or water treatment process chemistry

  • The ability to participate in teams involved with consulting and conceptual engineering for our clients through all phases of project execution from conceptual engineering through construction closeout and operations

  • Industrial water and wastewater service/subject matter areas: strategic planning, water and wastewater characterization/basis of design, conceptual alternatives evaluation/feasibility studies, treatability testing, process definition, full-scale water and wastewater system performance evaluations/troubleshooting, and water and wastewater treatment residuals Management

  • Assist in developing material balances, process design basis documents, hydraulic and wastewater process simulation models and calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment arrangement drawings and other design deliverables. Size and specify water/wastewater process and mechanical equipment

  • Develop engineering estimates and work plans
