Position Title Senior BIM Technician - Structures

As a CAD/BIM Senior Technician you will be working closely with engineers of all levels to be directly involved in a broad range of projects both minor and major, overseeing resourcing, staff development, input to bidding and delivering internal training. You should have the ability to make decisions, act on your own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
You will also be required to have experience in the preparation of civil and structural 3D models, model collaboration and writing/maintaining BIM Execution Plans. You should have the ability to advance our capabilities in clash detection and 4D modelling.

In addition to the standard duties expected of a Technician the BIM Senior Technician role will take responsibility for:
Ensuring drawing delivery meets CAD/BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and the requirements for the project BIM Execution plan
Ensure that models meet BIM Level 2 standards and that the design team understands the level of information required to meet this
Coordination with team leaders and CAD/BIM Senior Technicians from other offices and disciplines
Line management of technician staff resource for projects, including reporting of resource productivity forecasting, time/leave approvals and PDR discussions
Attend management meetings when required
Mentor and oversee the development of apprentice and less experienced staff
Be proactive in self-development and development of technician team members
Develop and deliver training in software and standard procedures
Ability to drive strong relationship between Revit and Structural analysis software. Develop staff to utilise these links
Ability to ensure best practice using other software packages including Civil 3D, CADS RC, Grasshopper, Rhino or such like
Provide best practice leadership to junior technicians
Be familiar with project setup using a range of modelling products (Revit, Bentley etc)
Ensure that technician staff are provided with the information, software, hardware, training and technical support they require to ensure delivery of CAD data to project requirements
Maintain a broad range of skills within the team to ensure full support is provided to the design staff
Provide technical BIM advice to bids
Provide CAD/BIM Management to projects across teams and disciplines
Support the UK BIM Technical Lead in implementing BIM within the Infrastructure division
Have significant experience in Revit Structure/AutoCAD
Have collaboration tool experience (Navisworks etc)
Experience with parametric modelling software (Dynamo or similar) is desirable but will not hinder suitable applicants
Able to work without supervision and to proactively manage time
Able to produce a consistently high quality 2D and 3D information
Compliance with CAD/BIM standards and Quality Assurance procedures
Have a thorough understanding of BIM and its direction within the industry
Familiar with and able to implement a Common Data Environment and the latest wider industry AEC(UK) BIM/CAD protocols
Able to write, implement and maintain BIM Execution Plans
Practical experience of reinforced concrete and steel detailing
Good organisational and interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure
Extensive experience of structural engineering technical drawing across multi-disciplinary projects
Experience of coordinating technical drawing and models across multi-disciplinary projects
Able to work within other offices for periods of time
Be working towards/or have a professional qualification (TIStructE or EngTech MICE).
