Job Summary

AECOM's Environmental Team is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Geologist for employment in the Miami, FL office. The appropriately qualified candidate will be a dynamic individual, capable of conducting field surveys and delivering high-quality technical reports. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Gather, organize, and analyze field data to be used in the preparation of scientific reports

  • Conduct environmental assessments to define the nature and extent of contamination

  • Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and environmental permit application packages

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline (e.g., geology, environmental science, or scientific related field)

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong attention to detail, good time-use skills, and ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to handle the demands of multiple priorities for various clients and projects

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills; extremely proficient in technical writing; highly effective organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results

  • Must be able to interact directly with clients and local regulatory agencies in a professional manner

  • Must be proficient with MS Office applications

  • Willingness and availability to travel occasionally (within Florida)

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Must be able to operate a full size pickup truck safely

  • May be required to complete pre-employment drug screen

  • May require working long field days outdoors, sometimes under rigorous conditions (e.g., hot and/or rainy weather, remote areas, in a variety of habitats)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and analysis

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
